 Folly for a Flyover 

On the 24th June, a building appeared in the gap between the East and Westbound traffic of the A12. Here hosted a programme of cinema, performance and play produced by Assemble in conjunction with CREATE 2011 and The Barbican Art Gallery. We again ran a workshop called the shoebox project in which the children created an environment or room that they have a special connection with or believed to be important and a part of them inside a shoe box. Within this space it was entirely open to their desires and imagination and they created their own narrative within the imagery of the box.

The boxes were stacked to create an illusion of panning from one room to the next as if on the outside of a building looking in. The end result was be a masterpiece of interconnected worlds, going from children’s playroom into the sea and in and out of the beehive coves.
